Just in time for Baseball, Major Sports Card Collection Heads to Auction

Just in time for baseball’s opening pitch on Sunday April 5th, baseball cards depicting some of the game’s earliest stars including Ty Cobb and Cy Young will be sold. The auction held on April 4th, at Gateway Gallery Auction begins at 10 a.m. and will be the first of several auctions featuring cards and other sports memorabilia from a local collection.

“This is a life time collection from one gentleman’s estate.” said Lee Brouwer, marketing director for Gateway Gallery Auction. “This first auction has cards that represent the legends of the game which makes it very exciting for any collector”

Highlights of the collection include rare Eddie Plank Philadelphia Caramel card, Jackie Robinson 1949 Leaf Rookie & J. Robinson pinback, Complete sets of 1948, 49, 50 Bowman, approximately (175) T206 tobacco cards featuring early stars such as Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson portraits.
