What’s Hot? … What’s Not

August 20, 2021

Every day, we get calls from folks who have something they want to sell.

Often, they are disappointed (shocked?) to hear the collectibles they paid good money for 20 years ago can now expect to bring about $2 at auction. Sadly, many things that were “hot” a decade or two ago are no longer desirable.

Here’s our list of what’s selling well and what isn’t at auction right now:

Hot

Vintage toys

Costume jewelry

1970s rock albums

Vintage advertising signs

Early carved folk art animals

Decorative statement pieces (wagon wheels, winnowing baskets)

Blue and white decorative pieces (ginger jar, lamps, planters)

Stained glass

Vintage Christmas

Farm tables and other farmhouse-style pieces

Not

Collectible figurines (such as Hummels)

Stemware

China

Silverplate

Oak furniture

Teapots

Cup/saucer sets

Snack trays
