It’s funny how certain things stick in your mind—song lyrics, movie quotes, random bits of dialogue you haven’t thought about in years. I don’t always know why something pops into my head or why it decides to stay there.
Whatever the reason, Ralphie Wiggum awkwardly trying to become Lisa Simpson’s Valentine seems to make an appearance in my brain nearly every time we have a train auction.
Is that really so surprising?
Lots of “things” can take us on a trip down memory lane and model trains seem to do that better than most. Maybe you’re a serious collector. Maybe you’re a model railroad hobbyist. Or maybe you simply enjoy having a little nostalgia tucked into your home.

One of my favorite things about this auction is how many pieces overlap with other collecting interests.
Maybe you collect trains and Coca-Cola.
Or trains and Phillies.
Or trains and Hershey.
Or trains and Christmas.
Or trains and Disney.
And then there are the things that I can’t make up –
You never quite know what you’re going to find. Sometimes the most unexpected item is the one you end up remembering.
