5 Things to Know Before Selling Your Sports Card Collection

July 29, 2025

You spent years or decades collecting baseball or other sports cards, maybe keeping the packs unopened or sliding the cards carefully into plastic sleeves.

You hunted everywhere for THE prized card.

But life has changed now.

Perhaps the hobby has lost its appeal, or maybe you’re downsizing and simply don’t have room for them anymore and you want to share the collection with others.

Or you want to take the grandkids to Disney and are hoping to fund the trip with the sale of your sports collection.

Auction can be a great way to liquidate your collection! But the secret is to know what to expect when it comes to return on your items.

Before you order new furniture or book the trip with the anticipated proceeds, make sure you do your due diligence.

Our sports card consultant, Kathy Leedy, asks five questions of potential sports memorabilia consignors:

  1. How old are the cards? What year(s) are they from? (pre-1975 is preferred)
  2. If the cards are from 1975-present, are they rookies?
  3. What condition are they in?
  4. Are they well-known players? Do you have Hall of Famers?
  5. Do you have any autographed items or older sports memorabilia (bobbleheads, pennants, bats, etc.)?

Once you know what you have, you can contact us for a free no obligation consultation with our auctioneer and specialty consultant.

After that, if you choose to work with us, we can assist you with packing and transporting of items, if needed.

We understand the passion of collectors and will properly care for your specialty collection.

When you’re ready to downsize or liquidate your sports memorabilia collection, give us a call!
